Opportunities are available for developers (plugins, core code work, new functionality), site-builders (building out new websites based on MWG), trainers (teaching people to use MWG and recording videos), and more.
Immediately, we need additional extensions for the software. MWG supports "gizmos", which are similar to Wordpress Plugins or Joomla! Modules / Plugins. We need more Gizmos, today, and we are actively looking for Gizmo developers.
In many cases, these can be ports of existing (GPL 2.0) Wordpress or Joomla plugins, or integrations to existing code.
Gizmos
The following integrations are needed ASAP:
- Twilio ClickToCall
- MailChimp Mail Integration
- Facebook Comments Integration
- Optimizely Split Testing
- Ginzametrics SEO metrics
- NoteIt "sticky note" popup
- Any other gizmo plugin you would like to create is open, please send proposal or link to similar joomla or wordpress plugin, first.
This month, we are paying a bounty of $20 per approved, working, documented Gizmo that is completed before December 15th. These Gizmos are to be licensed under the GPL v2.0, and must be based entirely on your own work or documented GPL v2.0 (or compatibly licensed) code.
We request a 60 day exclusivity on each gizmo we purchase, after which you may distribute the work however you see fit.
How To Apply
- Install a copy of MWG on your website for development purposes. You can download it directly from Google:
http://code.google.com/p/marketingwebsitegenerator/.
You want MWG v1.2.3 (the latest)
Installation documentation is available as well on the Marketing Website Generator site.
- Take a look at the example Gizmo in gizmos/
exampleGizmo.class.php
exampleGizmo.yml.php
(Additional examples are available once your application is approved). This will give you a feel for how the system works. Please only continue if you believe you can complete a project.
- Send an email to nick.mwg [at] gmail.com with the subject "MWG Developer Application"
Please Include:
- Your full name, email address, country, and timezone
- the url where you have MWG installed.
- links to your CV, resume and / or portfolio, scriptlance or oDesk profile, etc.
- the project concept you would like to work on, from those listed above or one an idea of your own
- your payment preference (scriptlance, oDesk or PayPal)
- any other information you think would be useful for us to evaluate your application.
PLEASE NOTE: Part of the application process is for you to INSTALL MWG software before applying. The link to a working installation is MANDATORY. This allows us to immediately seperate competent developers from agency spam-bots.
- You should receive a note of approval within 1-2 business days, if you've followed all instructions. If you do not receive a response in a timely manner, please double check that you have followed all instructions and re-submit.
After Account Approval
Once your account is approved, we will set you up as a developer in our project management system, discuss your specific project, and provide approval for you to go forward with the project.
There you will have access to:
- Sample Gizmos that you can use as a basis for your own code
- direct access to lead developers who can help you as necessary
- code auto-generation tools
- peer-to-peer support, issue tracker, and wiki
- documentation (in progress) on how to build gizmos
- List of available projects with additional documentation
Once you have completed 1 project with us, you will be eligible for increased compensation and additional opportunities including direct referrals and more.
Please note: We will pay $20 through Scriptlance, oDesk or PayPal for the first successfully completed project you do for us that we have approved, and expect that project to be completed within 1 week of project approval (these are small projects). Compensation, after the first successful project, is negotiable.
Other opportunities include building out MWG sites and training videos for us and our customers: we currently have a back-log of sites to do, and some training can be provided. There is also work to be done on the core software, which is open source.
